Responding to the Hanoi City-level Excellent Teacher Competition, on the morning of December 1, 2016, at Chu Van An High School, the teaching sessions for the Excellent Teacher Competition in Civic Education, History, and Biology at the Tay Ho – Ba Dinh cluster level were successfully held.
Promoting the tradition of good teaching – good learning, following the example of the eternal teacher Chu Van An, the Board of Directors and professional groups sent excellent representatives to attend the Cluster Level Excellent Teacher Competition. Teachers participated in the competition with two practical teaching sessions, including one optional session and one drawn session. The teaching sessions participating in the competition were not only invested in elaborate and creative design but also ensured the standards of knowledge – skills – attitudes, applying interdisciplinary and practical issues to teaching knowledge units in textbooks, integrating education on civilized and elegant lifestyle of Hanoians, learning from the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh.
Representing Chu Van An High School are teacher Nguyen Thi Hoan (taking the History exam), teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh (taking the Biology exam), teacher Nguyen Thi Hiep (taking the Civic Education exam). In each subject, in each lesson content, the teachers choose relatively diverse teaching methods and always take students as the center to guide them to learn about the problem in the most natural way. In History, teacher Nguyen Thi Hoan brings students along with the flow of world history to draw lessons for modern issues through two lessons “The situation of capitalist countries between the two world wars (1918 – 1939)” and “Western Europe in the late Middle Ages”. In Biology, teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh guides students to learn about “modern synthetic theory of evolution”, extremely vivid and attractive natural science knowledge that creates interesting surprises when answering questions about the evolution of all species. Coming to the subject of Civic Education, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hiep showed great courage when choosing a difficult lesson “practice and the role of practice in cognition”, philosophical categories were presented in a systematic and easy-to-understand way, making students really engaged and excited.
During the teachers’ class, everyone clearly saw the flexible and skillful combination of traditional teaching methods with teaching methods that integrate group exercises, presentations, and application of information technology to make the class more lively, easier to understand, and especially to arouse passion, exploration, and develop thinking in students – the central characters of the class.
The History class had some quiet moments when the teacher shared about the consequences of the Great Depression of the 20th century, the Biology class impressed the audience with the dignified and confident demeanor of the teacher, the open and enthusiastic attitude of the students in learning while playing, playing while learning. With the 11th grade Geography class, practical issues such as the environment and learning methods stimulated extremely profound debates right in class. All of these activities were not simply about acquiring knowledge but also about sharing and orienting the views and opinions of each social phenomenon.
Not only Ms. Hoan, Ms. Binh, Ms. Hiep, but also the collective of Chu Van An teachers under the close guidance of the Board of Directors always try to improve their knowledge, keep up with modern technology and promote the role of teachers – instructors through each class hour. Each lecture, each lesson plan page contains the enthusiasm, passion, and love for the profession of each teacher of Chu Van An High School.
